Deradoorian

Here's a couple tracks I thought you dudes might dig. I guess this girl is from the band Dirty Projectors (whom I've never heard) and these two tracks come from her first solo EP called Mind Raft. Described as afro-beat mixed with classical Japanese.

Enjoy!

cinemechanica

cinemechanica- this is my best find all year, in fact years. I can't describe them without underdescribing, or over all incompetence of what to describe them as. i could not force myself to put any of their albums up for download. buy every-fucking-thing you can find of theirs. the link is to a video of them doing a twelve minute song with two drummers that is beyond amazing. this is the epitomy of indie. Burmese

Noisy, raucous, abrasive.
Burmese is Dead

Thank You

A rhythmic dance of sorts. A manic, joyful release abruptly followed by dark heavy. Yeah. I think the cover says it all.

Terrible Two

Cloudland Canyon

Pieces of this album remind me of so many different bands/artists... all of them good.

Woods Family Creeps

manic depressive radabonzicality. for real though, these guys (girls?) are amazing. hilarious and lugubrious (in your fucken face). i just realized what a large forehead the indian in the picture at the top of the page has. indians, who needs 'em?

Future Perfection

You guys probably know about Autolux but I keep going back to this album. How can you not like a band with this mission statement?

Shake shake the stars down!

Wulf

One random, dark, 2AM night on 45th street I found this gem waiting for me. The guy was an artistic genius. Pure, unhindered expression... his voice gives me chills.

Radian

Still discovering what these guys can really do, they tend to mix up IDM, post-rock, and just crazy experimental shit but the structure of this track is fucking stunning.

'Jet' off of Rec.Extern

1-Speed Bike

Another GY!BE member side project, (HRSTA is as well) and just as beautiful. It took some time but I've fallen madly in love with this guy's beats. It's their drummer aidan. With the right pair of headphones and a nice low end boost you'll poop your pants when you hear track four... serious, I thought the bomb had dropped.

Sik azz beetz yo!

Balmorhea S/T

Minimalist instrumental. I think these guys are from Texas. Ethereal is the best word to describe this album.

Drift

Volt-Rorhat

One of the best rock bands I have heard in a while. It is hard to say but I think they are better than Melvins. At least definately before da Biz converged with Melvins. So fucking heavy.

Heavy as fuck

Thursday, April 17, 2008

Vic Chestnutt- North Star Disaster

Really good folk/singer songwriter. One or two songs pick up a bit, but it is pretty mellow for the most part. I think the guy is paralyzed but I could be wrong.

Vic Chestnutt

5ive-Hesperus

The new 5ive. I think this one is my favorite, a little more blues oriented.

DL 5ive

The Biz

Big Business Tour II Ep. Low-fi versions of some songs that didn't 'come out' until Here Comes the Waterworks. Only printed for tours, don't think they print this one anymore. This is worth it just for the last song 'Be Stiff': The missing link in the Karp discography.

They mean business

Coalesce

Salt and Passage, the new ep, and the classic Give Them Rope She Said in case you fellas don't have it. If I was in Dillinger Salt and Passage would drive me to suicide.

Get Durty

HRSTA

Minimalist Folk.

Grails- Burning Off Impurities

These guys are what Om would sound like if they had a bunch of members and a bunch of instruments. In fact their drummer Emil Amos is going to be drumming for Om now that Hakius is done. Great album DownLoad

The Sword-Gods of the Earth

The new Sword album. i don't know when it comes out but i know it hasn't been released yet. Pretty good shit. The production kind of makes it too good. kind of like the new saviors album. but still worth listening to and jammin. DownLoad

Three

So Portishead surprised the hell out of everyone and made a new album.
I'll just say that I'm already falling in love with it.
Don't know if it's been released yet and all I've got are shitty mp3s so I can't post it here... just a heads up.

Destroy and Rebuild

Those are just 2 of the three mixes (the first is even shittier) of that song I did while still at school. Right now I'm doing some editing and breaking the hour long jams down to sections that are easier to mix. Then I will reconstruct them into their entirety. Soon I will be out of the graveyard shift hole that I'm in and thus... more time to do real work!

The One And Only.

Link
So I guess I finally had to own up and say... duh, of course you can't make a perfect mix in three nights, on a new board you just learned weeks ago. Asshole. My apologies. The kick sounds like a pillow. I LOLed when I heard that shit.

Tagging doesn't really fit the style of music but I enjoy writing Ziggurat were it spelled with an E.

weak sauce

Just a little poem for my indian friends:
I am sorry we stole your land.
Not all white people are bad,
Most just don't have a conscience.
I really like moccasins and eagle
feathers. I am sure peyote is
pretty amazing as well, but
I think it would overload my
Anxiety gland. RED POWER.

Lukewarm Bodies (at best)

This band is really good but really different. no two songs sound even have the same feeling or dynamics in them. one will feel like the melvins going down on kyuss, and the next one will give you the feeling of my bloody valentine being sodomized by the cramps, but really good. some of the tracks are untitled and that's about all i know about them.
